Missions Conference 2010!

clock January 31, 2010 17:00 by author bryonmondok

Woohoo!  This last week, I (trista) had the privilege of attending my first calvary missions conference!  It was such a HUGE blessing and I am so grateful the Lord gave me the opportunity to attend.  Unfortunately, David was not able to attend but God already had a perfect plan for that week for both of us!  I just want to share a couple of really awesome things that the Lord showed me while I was there.

Our crew from Shoreline journeyed down to the conference on Sunday afternoon after third service at church.  The weather was spectacular!  Beautiful clear sunny warm skies led the way!  Monday was the actual kick-off day, so it was nice just taking our time down to the conference.  The greatest part about is was when our car arrived, the other car was out to dinner so I took my bag up to room where I found 6 beds with me being the only one there.  I at first had the reaction of, OH WOW!  I am here all by myself...no David and like a thousand beds!  I proceeded to test ALL the beds...just to make sure they would be completely comfy for all one of me!  After I picked my bed, I sprawled out and was so blessed to just spend some time alone with the Lord with absolutely NO distractions in all quietness.  I landing myself in Colossians 1.  What a beautiful chapter!  Later, I did find that I did have roomies and was very glad to know that I wasn't going to be all alone for the entirety of the conference and was very blessed by their company.

Monday morning was the kick off to the week and of course, God has a funny way of reinforcing things He wants us to be learning.  So, where did our first speaker end up?  Right back in Colossians 1:27-28 which says To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.  Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.  Completely bringing me back to my previous night of study and reminding me of our call as Christians.  Warning every man...Teaching every man!  We have such a beautiful responsibility as Christians to spread the gospel and how beautiful God was bringing me back to the foundational reason of why David and I are moving London!  To spread the good news!  Amazing!

Later that night, I had the privilege of sitting with two amazing godly women one of which is a missionary in London!  AWESOME!  She and her husband, still newlyweds, heard the call and recently made the big move! What an encouragement to me it was to sit there and talk with her!  Someone who just went through the whole process and is on the other side!   God has been putting so many people in our lives right now as He is putting together this intricate puzzle of moving to London to spread the gospel.  Even though it's a tough journey to go through visa processes and job hunting etc. God is making this journey utterly effortless as He so graciously adds one piece at a time and all David and I have to do is follow obediently.  Thank you God for going being for us!
God continued to bless me throughout the rest of the conference with conversations, and divine appointments and messages that He had already set out for me prior to me being there.  And while I could continue about every last detail, I will have to say that one of the funniest moments occurred one evening as Jana and I had walked back from a time of worship and were just entering our lodge area when a woman came out of her room and started asking in a heavy accent for a hair dryer.  But of course!  I totally have a hair dryer and probably most definitely look like I would!  After a slight hesitation, I offer it to her and as we are walking to our room, she asks if I am from London!  I respond with, no, but I am moving there in (Lord-willing) in April!
